Lydia Ann Moses
December 07, 1954 - October 13, 2019



Lydia Ann Cowart was born to the late Gloria Dean Cowart and the late Andrew Lester Jones on December 7, 1954, in Bogalusa, Louisiana. Lydia became affectionately known as “Jody,” embodying a very vibrant and warm personality. On Sunday, October 13, 2019, received eternal peace and transitioned from earth to glory.

She completed her spiritual journey under the leadership of Rev. George Burris of Historic St. James Baptist Church in Madisonville, LA. Lydia was a servant at heart who loved God and His people. She worked tirelessly in each ministry that she joined.

In 1972, Lydia graduated from Bogalusa High School. She loved her alma mater and was a proud Lumberjack. She worked for many years in the Bogalusa City School System and with Security Insurance Company which made her known face in the community. She will also be remembered for the work that she did for the Washington Parish Summer Youth Camps and local football camps.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Lubertha “Mama Tish” Curry; grandmother, Bessie Curry; her mother, Gloria Cowart; her father, Andrew Jones; a sister, Jacqueline Moore; a brother, Andrew Cowart; special aunts, Katherine Smith and Annie Lee Jackson; a special uncle, Horace Davis, and a special cousin, David Smith.

She leaves to cherish her memories three sons, Napoleon (Stacia) Moses of Baker, LA, Robert (Demetria) Moses of Houston, TX, and Rodney (Brittany) Brown, Jr. of Dallas, TX; eight grandchildren, Drake Moses of Hattiesburg, MS, Alaya Moses and Arella Moses of Houston, TX, Jadon Moses, Makayla Moses and Hannah Moses of Baker, LA, Kiley Brown and Callen Brown of Dallas, TX; a sister, Emily Smith-Costello of Belleville, IL; a brother, Victor Cowart of Baton Rouge, LA; and a host of devoted friends and family.

The visitation will be Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 1:00pm-5:00pm with the family hour following from 5:00pm-6:00pm at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, LA.

The funeral will be 12:00pm Friday, October 18, 2019 at Bethlehem Family Life Center, 837 E. 7th St. Bogalusa, LA., Rev. Christopher Matthews, pastor and Rev. Robert Smith, eulogist.  Interment will be in Bogalusa Cemetery.
