Obituary

Garry Lee Dack
September 10, 1935 - October 9, 2019



Garry Lee Dack, age 84 and a resident of Independence, passed away Wednesday morning October 9, 2019. He was born September 10, 1935 to the late Adilia Grace Meadows Dack and George Oscer Dack and grew up in Hastings, Nebraska. He was a loving husband, dad, Paw Paw, brother and son. His love was unconditional and he was our greatest blessing. Garry will be missed by many. He served in the United States Navy during the latter Korean War era. He retired after a long career with J & M Industries in Ponchatoula. Garry’s passion was woodworking as he made birdhouses, bird feeders, wooden toys and other items that he often gave to his family and friends. He had a special place in his heart for his beloved pet Dachshund Scooby-Doo.

Survived by: His Children and Spouses: Dale and Sally Corkern of Yearington, Nevada, Julie Revere Gilland of Independence, Debbie and Mike Varnado of Franklinton; Granddaughters and Spouses: Briana and Ralph Anthony, Jessica and Mike Thomas all of Franklinton; Also 10 additional grandchildren; 17 Great-grandchildren; Brother in law: Chuck Lindenborn of Burkburnett, Texas; Sisters in law: Marian Holliday of Goodbee, Vergie Holliday of Holden; Also numerous nieces and nephews

He was also preceded in death by his son Walter Revere Dack, wife Jerry Holliday Dack, brothers Vernon Dack, Glen A. Dack, Darrell Dack, and son in law Bobby Gilland.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday October 13th at New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in the Blond Community with Bro. Mitch Williams officiating.
