John Henry Gill, age 78 and a resident of Franklinton, Louisiana, died Monday morning September 2, 2019 at his daughter’s home. He was a longtime member of Lawrence Creek Missionary Baptist Church and had retired as a plant supervisor from Florida Gas after a 30 year career. He loved fishing and riding in his pontoon boat and enjoyed rabbit hunting earlier in life. John liked to drive his tractor and work with his cows on the farm. He loved spending time with his family, often playing cards with his children and grandchildren. He had a special place in his heart for his pet dog Mit Mit.
Survived by: Wife of 58 years: Emma Stevens Gill of Franklinton; Son and Daughter in law: Jeffrey and Sherri Gill of Wiggins, MS; Daughter and Son in law: Lorrie Gill Price and David Price of Franklinton; 4 Grandchildren and Spouses: Justin Gill of Wiggins, Danielle and Colton Williams of St. Martin, MS, Abby and Trey Jenkins, Kelby and Chad Dorsett all of Franklinton; 11 Great-grandchildren and a Spouse: Josie Gill, Jase Gill, Cason Williams, Layla Williams, Nick and Keri Jenkins, Liam Jenkins, Wyatt Jenkins, Jovi Jenkins, Kayleigh Dorsett, Jackson Dorsett, Jathan Dorsett; Brother and Sister in law: Billy and Dorothy Gill of Mt. Hermon; Brothers in law and Sisters in law: John D. and Delores Stevens, Roy and Bobbie Stevens, Larry Stevens, Arthur and Voncille Stevens all of Franklinton; Also numerous nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Gill and Elsie Miller Gill, a brother Paul Gill, sister and brother in law Alberta and Carl Miller.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton, LA) Thursday September 5th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Thursday with Eld. Lerand Hunt and Eld. Duane Ball officiating. Burial will follow in the Springhill-Magee Cemetery near Franklinton.
