Obituary

Garfield W. Baham
January 13, 1942 - August 21, 2019



Garfield W. Baham, age 77 and a resident of Franklinton, died early Wednesday morning August 21, 2019 at his home. He grew up in the Folsom/Tangipahoa area and was a graduate of Loranger High School, who joined the United States Air Force following graduation. Garfield served as an efficiency specialist for Air Force Bases throughout the world including Thailand during the Vietnam War. He retired as a Senior Master Sergeant after serving his country for 21 years. The family then returned to the area and have since lived in Washington Parish for over 20 years. He was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Father John LeBlanc Knights of Columbus. Garfield was the manager of Auto Zone in Franklinton for 16 years. He enjoyed working on and restoring old cars and woodworking, making items for people that he often gave away. Garfield also enjoyed gardening and made a successful one each year.

Survived by: Wife of 57 years: Janet Pearl Baham of Franklinton; 4 Children and a Spouse: Gary Allen Baham of Kiln, MS, Gail Ann Baham of San Antonio, TX, Melissa Baham Hingle and Carl Hingle, Austin Baham all of Franklinton; 3 Grandchildren: Jasmin Mikes, Kristal Mikes, Tyrick Mikes; 4 Brothers and Sisters in law: Arthur Baham, Ambrose Baham, Jr. and Iris Baham, Sherman and Charline Baham, Allen Baham; Sister: Yvonne Huhner; Also numerous brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ambrose Baham, Sr. and Aklen Reid Baham and a sister Myrtle Rodrigues.

Visitation will be at Holy Family Catholic Church (1318 Bickham Street, Franklinton, LA 70438) on Friday August 23rd from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held in the church at 12:00 pm Friday with Father Kyle Sanders and Father Peter Hammett officiating. Military funeral honors will be rendered immediately following the funeral service. Garfield will be laid to rest in the Saint Joseph Abbey Cemetery at a later date.
