22-Year-Old Dies in Motorcycle Crash near Lacombe

Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded yesterday evening (August 2, 2019) to a
fatal crash involving a motorcycle on US 190 at the intersection of Tranquility Rd. in St. Tammany Parish. The crash has claimed the life of Cody Michael Doucette (22) of Slidell.

Troopers determined that the crash occurred as Doucette was riding a 2007 Suzuki GSX eastbound on US 190 at a high rate of speed. A 2000 Ford F-150, driven by Richard Mathews (59) of Lacombe, had stopped at the intersection of US 190 and and Tranquility Rd. and then entered US 190, directly into the path of Doucette’s motorcycle. The motorcycle crashed into the right side of the F-150, causing Doucette to be ejected. Despite wearing a DOT approved helmet, Doucette sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased on scene. Mathews was properly restrained and was uninjured in the crash.

Mathews was issued a citation for Failure to Yield. The investigation is on-going and no further information is available at this time.
