Gary P. Dufrene, Sr.
February 17, 1954 - July 12, 2019



Gary Paul Dufrene, Sr., age 65 and a resident of Mt. Hermon, passed away Friday evening July 12, 2019 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born February 17, 1954 and grew up in Lafitte, LA. Gary was retired after a 25 year career as a tug-boat captain with Domino Towing and other companies through the years. He later served as a reserve officer with the Franklinton Police Department and worked for several years with the Maintenance Department of the Town of Franklinton. Gary loved the outdoors and was an avid deer hunter. He enjoyed fishing, especially back in his hometown of Lafitte and riding his boat “Bayou Angel”. He also loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, watching old western TV shows and listening to his favorite country music. He was devoted to his family and spent every possible minute with his beloved wife, children and grandchildren. Gary always loved life and never met a stranger.

Hermon; Son: Gary P. “Boo” Dufrene, Jr. and Melissa of Franklinton and his children, Daniel Dufrene and Allison, Steven Dufrene and Kailey and their son Tyler, Angel Dufrene, and the mother of his children Joette J. Dufrene; Daughter and Son in law: Felicia Dufrene Perry and LaVonta Perry of Franklinton and their children Jakobi, Sudhama, Vequila of Charlotte, NC; Brothers and Sisters in law: Eroil “Leroy” Dufrene, Jr., Ricky and Irene Dufrene, Eldon and Jeanette Dufrene, Kenneth and Terri Dufrene; Sisters and a Brother in law: Maria and Willie Chauvin, Kathy Dufrene, Barbara Dufrene; Sister in law: Sharon L. Seal "Big Sister"; Step-Brothers: Chris Perez, T.J. Perez, Duane Perez; Special Friends: Richard and Bonnie Massey, Patches Thomas, Christine Freeman; Also numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by father Eroil Dufrene, Sr., mother and step-father Myrtle D. Perez and Tildon Perez, granddaughter Aimee Renee Dufrene, brothers Bryan Dufrene, Eugene Dufrene, Wayne Dufrene and his grandparents.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Monday July 15th from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and after 10:00 am on Tuesday. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Tuesday with Rev. Leon Hickman officiating. Burial will follow in the Seal Cemetery.
