Obituary

Tim Phelps
December 11, 1966 - July 10, 2019



Timothy Lawrence Phelps, age 52 and a resident of the Lawrence Creek Community, passed away Wednesday July 10, 2019 at Riverside Medical Center after a lengthy illness, during which he received a kidney transplant from his mother 12 years ago and recently a second kidney transplant from his lifelong best friend Herman Ingram. Tim was a 1984 graduate of Pine High School and later received a Bachelor’s Degree in Management from Southeastern Louisiana University. He was retired after a 25 year career with the Louisiana Department of Corrections, Probation and Parole Division. Tim enjoyed dove and deer hunting and riding his ATV. He liked to play golf and other sports with his sons and friends. Tim always loved spending time with his family.

Survived by: Wife of 29 years: Daphne Magee Phelps; 2 Sons: Jacob Lawrence Phelps, Jordan Timothy Phelps and his fiancĂ© McKayla Sandifer all of Franklinton; Father and Mother: Daniel Lawrence Phelps and Patricia “Trish” Barber both of Franklinton; 2 Brothers and a Sister in law: Daniel “Danny” Willis Phelps and Sherri Phelps, Yancey Hagen Holmes all of Franklinton; Maternal Grandfather: Willis Barber of Franklinton; Father in law and Mother in law: Linus and Libby Magee of Franklinton; Brother in law and Sister in law: Kyle and Samantha Magee of Franklinton; Nephews and Nieces: Connor Holmes, Victoria Luper, Alyssa Phelps, Addyson Phelps, Caroline Holmes, Jonah Holmes, Zachary Holmes, Luke Magee; Also numerous cousins and many wonderful friends

He was preceded in death by his brother Richard “Dude” Holmes, maternal grandmother Minnie Belle Barber, paternal grandparents Lawrence and Loulie Phelps.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Sunday July 14th from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and after 10:00 am on Monday. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Monday with Eld. Duane Ball and Eld. Don Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in the Magee Cemetery in the Lawrence Creek Community.

Pallbearers: Mark Barber, Trent Barber, Myron Tullos, Steve Stewart, Mark Stewart, Damon Smith, Herman Ingram

Honorary Pallbearers are his coworkers with Probation and Parole and the Lawrence Creek Boys, the men’s choir he sang with for many years.
