Obituary

Monique Daniels
April 24, 1965 - June 21, 2019

“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.  I have fought a good fight.  I have finished my course.  I have kept the faith.”  2 Timothy 4:6-7

Monique Onshella Daniels was born on April 24, 1965 in Bogalusa, LA to the union of the late Emery Daniels, Jr. and Deloris Daniels. On June 21, 2019, she transitioned from earthly life to heavenly life.

At an early age, she was baptized as a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Mount Hermon, LA and later transferred her church membership to Plainview Church of Christ Holiness in Mount Hermon, LA under the leadership of Elder Albert James Brumfield, Jr.  She devoted her life to being a servant of God and served many years as an assistant Sunday School teacher and church usher.

Monique graduated from Mount Hermon High School. She furthered her education by earning a certification in nursing assistance. She was employed as a nursing assistant for years at Rest Care Community Center and later at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Franklinton, LA.

Her marriage to Ronnie Johnson begot a son, Devin Johnson, in 1998. She was not only a self-sacrificing mother but was a close friend to Devin. She adored her son and enjoyed spending endless hours playing video games with him. Their animated conversations could be appreciated before stepping inside their home, as cheers and competitive talking could be heard from outside the front door. All those who engaged in competition with her in games such as dominos, spades, and video games were fully aware of her fierceness with regards to winning.

Monique had an easy-going, loving spirit and took delight in making jokes, creating an atmosphere of joyfulness, lightheartedness, and laughter. She had a genuine love for others and would willingly do whatever she could for anyone in need. Her nursing home patients sought her specifically for their care. Family and friends were blessed to have experienced years of her tenderness, compassion, and unrelenting love. She was protective of her loved ones. As an angel she now has guardianship over many others.

Monique is preceded in death by her father, Emery Daniels, Jr.  She leaves behind her mother, Deloris Daniels of Mount Hermon, LA; son, Devin Johnson of Mount Hermon, LA; four siblings: Egeenee (Rhonda) Daniels of Fort Worth, TX, Kimberly (Dennis) Dillon of Pearl River, LA, Emery (Janice) Daniels, III of Fort Worth, TX, Shawn (Bertha) Daniels of Marrero, LA; and a host of nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

Services will be at Plainview Church of Christ Holiness in Mt. Hermon, Louisiana. Visitation will be Friday, June 28, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by the Funeral Service.
