Cassidy Park and the State Park Getting Help

Washington Parish Government continues their efforts to assist other entities maintain and improve facilities that benefit parish residents and our neighbors. A resolution was approved at the last meeting (February 25, 2019) of the Washington Parish Council to provide labor and equipment and coordinate with the City of Bogalusa to make repairs both in Cassidy Park and other areas in the City. President Thomas announced at the meeting on March 11th that the work is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, March 12th.

Also at the March 11th meeting, the Council approved a resolution to assist with labor and equipment for road work at the Bogue Chitto State Park. Parish residents find much to do at the park and it is also a great tourist attraction and of economic benefit to Washington Parish.

In addition to routine matters,
  • President Thomas provided his report and answered various questions by councilmen.
  • Public Works Director Wheat reported on the Bridge to Culvert program, progress on the Animal Shelter, improvements being made at the courthouse, a generator for the Bogalusa Health Unit, and cleanup being done near Poole's Bluff. 
  • Transportation Supervisor Merritt provided his monthly report.
