Jewell Anders
January 17, 1939 - January 28, 2019



Jewell Nathan Anders was born on January 17, 1939 in Tylertown, MS to the late Ernest and Ollie Mae Anders. He was the seventh of ten children. Early January 28, 2019 at 3:30AM he departed this life at his home in Franklinton with his daughter right by his side.

He was baptized at an early age at Mt. Moriah Church in Tylertown, MS after moving back home from Moss Point, MS. He dedicated his life to Christ at St. John Temple where he was a faithful member until his health begin to fail him.

Jewell Anders was united in holy matrimony to Lenoria Hart and to this union one daughter was born Ollie Marie Anders.

Jewell worked as a truck logger for many years before moving to Moss Point, MS. He also worked as a carpenter for many years before retiring. In his spare time he loved to hunt, fish, and he loved to eat wild game and also sharing what he caught. He also could beat anyone in dominoes with his eyes closed. Jewell would help family and friends with acts of kindness by bringing them to the doctor, the grocery store, fishing or just getting them out the house to ride them around.  He was a man of few words but always had a joke to make you laugh.

Jewell Anders leaves to cherish his loving memories a loving caring daughter, Ollie Anders Paul of Franklinton, LA; a son who he raised as his own, Willie Ray Washington of Moss Point, MS; two grandchildren, Lydrick Anders (Normita) of Hammond, LA and Cedrick Anders (JaWanda) of Houma, LA; two great grandchildren, Zy’King Anders and Ja’Laeja Walker; one son-in-law, Shawn Paul; one daughter-in-law, Nedra Young; one brother, Ernest Anders (Cynthia) of New York, NY; four sisters, Charlene Andrews of Chicago, IL, Faycene Dunham (Paul) of Franklinton, LA, Annette Mingo of Milwaukee, WI; and a special stepmother, Elizabeth Anders of Franklinton, LA; caregiver, Kimberly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Erent Anders; his mother, Ollie Mae Anders; two brothers, Melvin Anders and Charles Anders; two sisters, Etta Ruth Anders Dungey and Irma Anders Brumfield.

Visitation will be Friday, February 8, 2019 at Crain and Sons Funeral Home Chapel from 2:00PM -6:00PM. Funeral service will be on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 1:00PM at St. John Temple C.O.G.I.C. with Rev. Esco Burton – Pastor. Interment will be at Martin Cemetery.

Crain and Sons Funeral Home – Franklinton are in charge of arrangements.
