Jerry Dean Solomon, age 81 and a resident of Thomas, died Saturday evening January 19, 2019 at his home. He was a former longtime resident of Slidell and a resident of Washington Parish for over 20 years. Jerry retired from Marathon Oil as a Foreman and Lease Operator after 37 years of service. He was a member of Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church that was affectionately known as “Poppa Dean” to his church family and friends. Jerry liked to visit auctions and flea markets, and even operated his own booth for many years. He always enjoyed fishing and adored his family and grandchildren.
Survived by: Wife: Joyce Brooks Solomon of Thomas; 5 Sons and Daughters in law: Ralph Wayne Davis, Timmy Wayne Davis both of Slidell, Danny and Shirley Brooks of Thomas, Kelvin and Melanie Brooks of Franklinton, Todd and Lacretia Brooks of Pine; 3 Daughters and Sons in law: Theresa and Bill Bullock, Melinda Barber, Stacy and Paul Dillon all of Pine; 2 Sisters: Peggy Parker of Slidell, Doris Hungerford of Covington; 19 Grandchildren; 7 Great-grandchildren: Also numerous brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Edna G. Solomon, parents Kerney Frank Solomon and Verna Flemings Solomon, daughter Clara Nadene Chatagnier and a brother.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Monday January 21st from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Monday with Rev. Jerry Cox, Josh Spears and Aaron Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Faith Tabernacle Church Cemetery.
