Obituary

Gary Tompkins, Jr.
January 16, 1963 - January 25, 2019



Gary Ladon Tompkins, Jr., age 56 and a resident of Franklinton, died Friday January 25, 2019 at his home. He was native of Texas before moving to Hammond for 5 years and had lived near Franklinton for over 20 years. Gary was a talented welder for over 30 years that worked at Brumfield Welding, other shops in the area and recently had worked for himself for several years. He was also a good mechanic of small engines and power equipment, even TVs and other electronics. If something needed fixing, Gary could figure out how to repair it. He always enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Gary liked listening to his favorite classic rock music and he had a special place in his heart for his pet dogs June Bug and Lil’ Man.

Survived by: Wife: Stephanie Boland of Franklinton; 4 Daughters: Darlina Tompkins and Kevin Kesterson of Livingston, TX, Jennifer Tompkins of Liberty, TX, Clotilde Tompkins, Nicole Tompkins and Samuel Thomas, II all of Franklinton; 6 Grandchildren: Annalesa, Aaron, Abigail, Ashton, Alayah, Danielle; 2 Brothers and Sisters in law: Wesley and Susan Tompkins, Johnny Ray and Teresa Farris all of Texas; 2 Sisters: Robbie Rodriguez, Angel Farris both of Texas; Mother in law: Debra Keating of Franklinton; 3 Nephews: Johnathon Barrington of Franklinton, Michael Rogers, Austin Rogers; Also numerous other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gary L. Tompkins, Sr. and Penelope Farris Tompkins.

A memorial service for family and friends will be planned at a later date.
