Obituary

Elmon Darventaz Simmons
March 30, 1975 - December 07, 2018


“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day, and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Elmon Darventz Simmons of Tylertown, Mississippi was born on March 30, 1975 to Elmer Ray Simmons and the late LaGale Eley-Simmons. He departed this life on December 7, 2018.

At an early age, Elmon joint Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church where he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized. Later in life he joined St. John Temple Church of God in Christ.
Elmon graduated from Tylertown High School in 1994 and enlisted into the United States Army and remained active until he was Honorably Discharged in 2002.

Elmon married Priscilla Davis Simmons on June 13, 1998 and to this union two children were born, E’Man and Jaylen Simmons. Elmon was a very loving and caring husband and father who always placed his family first. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Elmon had numerous jobs in the trucking industries which he enjoyed doing. He met many friends through his path of traveling throughout different places. He was also known by his C. B. Handle “Hollywood”.

Elmon was later employed by International Paper and was a dedicated employee and stayed there until his early retirement due to his health. He progressed through his sickness with great strength, remaining hopeful by keeping the faith of getting better.

Elmon leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Pricilla Simmons of Tylertown, MS; one daughter, E’Man Simmons of Hattiesburg , MS; one son, Jaylen Simmons of Tylertown, MS; his father, Elmer Ray (Vanessa) Simmons of Tylertown, MS; sisters, Shineta (Reuben) Turner of LaPlace, LA, Valaka Simmons of Gulfport, MS, Valoria (Samuel) McClelland of Georgia; one aunt, Tina (Darrius) McGhee of Tylertown, MS; one uncle, Kelvin Wilson of Texas; as well as his sisters and brothers-in-law, Teena (Sedgwick) Wilson, Marie Davis (Fred), JoAnn (Hamilton) Magee, all of Franklinton, LA, Denmon (Leslie) Davis, Jr. of Hattiesburg, MS, Alphonse Graves (Laverne) of Biloxi, MS; and a host of special nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Elmon was preceded in death by his mother, LaGale Eley- Simmons; sister, Angela Simmons; grandmothers, Wavor Eley and Willie Lou Simmons; and his grandfather, Albert Simmons.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Crain and Sons Funeral Home from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The Funeral Service will be Friday, December 14, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Bogalusa, Louisiana.
