$260 Million Energy Center Ground Breaking Ceremony

On Tuesday (October 30, 2018) Calpine representatives and local elected officials attended the ground breaking ceremony of a $260 million, megawatt plant that will be built in Washington Parish outside of Bogalusa. The demolition and reconstruction will take approximately three years, and will employ more than 300 workers. Once open and purchased by Entergy, 25-35 employees will be hired.

On the agenda for the ceremony were Charlie Gates (Calpine), Eric Skrmetta (Public Service Commissioner), Brad Lambert (Louisiana Economic Development), Congressman Ralph Abraham, Washington Parish President Richard “Ned” Thomas, Washington Parish Assessor James “Jimbo” Stevenson, Washington Parish Sheriff Randy “Country” Seal, State Senator Beth Mizell, State Representative Malinda White, Bogalusa Mayor Wendy O'Quin Perrette, and Brett Kerr (Calpine).
