Sandy Hook Man Arrested After Lengthy Chase

Trevor Jay Vince (20), a resident of Angie Road in Sandy Hook, Mississippi, was arrested on August 30, 2018 after a lengthy car chase which began in Marion County, Mississippi, wound its way through Washington Parish, and finally ended in Walthall County, Mississippi.

The chase began when Vince ran through a checkpoint in Marion County, Mississippi. Marion County deputies pursued Vince into Washington Parish, at which time Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies joined in the chase which went through the Stateline community and then the Pine community before Vince crashed his vehicle in Walthall County. After the crash, Vince fled on foot, leaving a 14 year old juvenile in his vehicle. The juvenile was not injured, but two law enforcement vehicles were damaged in the chase.

Shortly thereafter, Vince surrendered at the Walthall County Sheriff’s Office and was transferred to Marion County where he was booked on charges there. He then was transferred to Washington Parish and was booked into the jail for aggravated flight from an officer, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, aggravated criminal damage to property, resisting an officer by flight on foot and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was released the same day after posting a $23,500 bond.

Sheriff Randy Seal spoke of Vince’s arrest. “This could have resulted in a tragic ending. Officers did not know who was driving the fleeing vehicle. It could have been an escapee, someone wanted for a major crime, or any other scenario. Vince’s flight endangered every vehicle on the road in his vicinity. I am so grateful it ended with no one injured and I appreciate our continued working partnership with Marion County and Walthall County. Officers from all agencies are always willing to assist when called upon.”
