On Wednesday afternoon (August 22, 2018, Troopers from Louisiana State Police responded to a two vehicle crash on LA 1040 (Old Baton Rouge Highway) in Tangipahoa Parish. The crash claimed the life of Dylan Slade McCarroll (30) of Hammond. Troopers determined that McCarroll ran off the right side of the roadway, steered sharply left and was struck in the opposing lane of traffic by a 2006 Peterbilt truck driven by Yousheng Wang (56) of Texas. McCarroll sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner's Office. Wang was uninjured in the crash.

Two Hammond Men Die in Separate Crashes Wednesday
On Wednesday morning (August 22, 2018), Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a single vehicle fatal crash on LA 443 near Old Vineyard Road in Tangipahoa Parish. The crash claimed the life of Joseph Benny Cline (58) of Hammond. Troopers determined that Cline ran off the right side of the roadway, entered the ditch, and his vehicle rolled onto the driver's side and crashed into a utility pole. Cline sustained severe injuries in the crash. He was transported to North Oaks Medical Center, where he ultimately succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.
