Tickfaw Man Dies While Swimming in Lake Pontchartrain

Sunday afternoon (May 13, 2018), St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office Units were dispatched after State Park Rangers called for assistance in reference to a subject last seen swimming in Lake Pontchartrain just south of the Fontainbleau State Park Fishing Pier. A short time later, a body was recovered by STPSO Marine Units, approximately 500 yards west of the Fishing Pier, in approximately seven feet of water.
The body of the deceased has been turned over to the St. Tammany Parish Coroners Office. NOLA.com reports today that the deceased has been identified as Luis Landaverde (23) of Tickfaw.
