I-10 Traffic Stop Leads to Big Drug Bust

A traffic stop on I-10 in Calcasieu Parish has led to the arrest of Mai Ly Thuy Johnson (35) of Covington for multiple narcotics and weapons charges and her husband Dujuan Jerel Johnson (36) for Money Laundering.
When Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies made a traffic stop Monday (December 4, 2017) on  Dujuan Jerel Johnson, they found him in possession of $72,600. He was arrested for Money Laundering. The investigation continued and on Tuesday, led officers to an apartment in the River Chase area of Covington occupied by Mai Ly Thuy Johnson. There, Troopers and Deputies with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office discovered a Century Arms AK-47 Pistol, $9,614.00 in currency, approximately five grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a 20 ton hydraulic press [machined to press and brand kilograms of narcotics], vacuum sealer, table top currency counter, a stolen Ruger LCP .380 handgun, 3.3 kilograms of heroin with an estimated street value of $825,000.and several other items used for the distribution and manufacture of illegal narcotics.
