Darrence Toddrell Roberts

Darrence Toddrell Roberts, Sr. AKA “Mr. Say Dat Dinn” transitioned from his temporary life on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in Bogalusa, LA.
Darrence was born on May 7, 1974 in Bogalusa, LA. He was known for his kind-heart, giving spirit and laughter.
Darrence was a member of Lavias Temple Church of God in Christ in Bogalusa, LA under the leadership of Supt. Charles Lavias. Later in life he became a member of Faith in the Word Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Tate in Franklinton, LA. At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and he God anointed his hands to play the drums at church.
Darrence had an infectious smile that would light up any room. He was always willing to help anyone that was in need. During a flood in Angie, LA and the surrounding areas, he went out rescuing those who were in need. He had a love for cooking and often times he would cook and invite anyone who wanted a plate. His favorite team was the New Orleans Saints, whether they won or lost.
Darrence was an avid outdoor sportsman and gardener. He loved fishing, deer hunting and had a green thumb that was like no other. He was nicknamed “Country
Boy” and “Black”. He grew the freshest produce you could ever taste.
He worked at Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton, LA and A&P grocery store. He attended Varnado High School, and graduated from Bogalusa High School in 1993. He played football and was a drummer in the band.
Darrence had a love for his family and friends. He was a devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, neighbor and friend.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Oneida and Clarence Odom; aunts Linda Faye Sartin, Gloria Jean Cox, Laurine Lewis and Exie Armstrong; uncles R.C. Marks, R.S. Harvey, Birvon Roberts, Sr., J.P. Fortenberry, Alton Hart, Sr., Benjamin Hart; brother-in-law, Larry Jackson, Sr. and best friend Melissa Davis.
He leaves to cherish and adore his memories; his parents Brenda and Linell Roberts; Rosha Abrams, his seven children, Diamond Martin, Darrence Roberts, Jr., Destiny Roberts, Denzell Roberts, Denali Roberts, Alexia Roberts Williams and Darion Roberts; three step-children, Sheena Barnes, Nina Barnes and Kristy Barnes; granddaughter, Sa’Myiah Martin; two brothers, Derrick (Joan) Bickham and Damien (Amanda) Exkano; four sisters, Shinedia Jackson, Shinell Roberts, Reshonda Roberts Colman and Lakieta Roberts; three nieces, Shakiera I’Viuna, Te’Anie; seven nephews, Bakari, Larry, Jr. Jahee, Kylan, Taylor, Broderick, Jr., Bryson, Dominic and Taren; two great-nieces, Mi’Kellya and Tay’linn; one great-nephew, Chaiston; special aunts, Willie Dean Harvey, Fannie Roberts, Bobbie Jean Gholar, Ida Warren, Lanie Robinson-McCloud and his aunts, Lula Mae Hart, betty Hart and Emma Sibley; and a great-aunt Ouida Bridges and Edith Roberts; Godmothers, Caprees Sibley and Dawn Morris; special cousins, Birvon Roberts, Jr., Greg Roberts and Fonda Moses; special friends Renwick Bickham, Terry Jefferson, Jesse Bickham, Erskine Wilson, Darnell Chapman, Dionell Young, Sr., Shannon McNeal, Titus Pittman, Tyrone McGowan, Roderick Robinson, Kolynda Parker, Keith Powell, Tammy Peters and Tobias Roberts.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017 at the chapel of Crain and Sons Funeral Home - Bogalusa, LA, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a family hour from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at the Bogalusa High School Auditorium, 100 M.J. Israel Drive, Bogalusa, LA with Elder Larry Anderson, Officiating. Interment in Live Oak Cemetery – Angie, LA. Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Bogalusa, LA are in charge of arrangements.
