Source: Ponchatoula Police DepartmentChief Layrisson reports that Shawn Verret was arrested after walking into a local bar holding a samurai sword around 2:00 am on October 15, 2017.
It was determined that earlier in the night, Verret was involved in a verbal altercation with another male inside of the Stray Cats bar and was asked to leave. Verret walked to his vehicle and a short time later he re-entered the bar with a mask on top of his head while holding a samurai sword. Verret was once again asked to leave the premises.
Officers quickly arrived on scene and located the mask and sword. Luckily, there were no injuries. Verret was taken into custody and charged through the state with Illegal Carrying of Weapons, Wearing a Mask in a Public Place, Terrorizing, and also Failure to Appear warrants through the city of Ponchatoula.
Shawn Verret is a convicted felon with a long criminal history that dates back to 1994. He has been arrested for numerous burglaries, numerous charges involving possession of illegal drugs, domestic abuse battery, and 4 armed robberies just to name a few.
