The Bogalusa Council heard a report Tuesday (October 3, 2017) evening from Mayor Wendy Perrette that was full of positives for the City. The Mayor reported on the success of the Bogalusa Blues and Heritage Festival, reported on the New Life United Pentecostal Church 12th Annual Back the Badge service, praised the work performed by the Garden Club and volunteers at Cassidy Park, advised the deli in the park has opened, encouraged participation in the United Way campaign, reported that one condemned house (on Avenue B) demolition and cleanup has completed and others are planned, gave information on the upcoming meeting designed for the public to learn how to purchase adjudicated properties, reported that RCC has been and will continue helping with cleanup in the City, announced "Girls Night Up" will be October 5th, announced the Fair Flag Raising Ceremony will be held October 6th, announced that the Varnado High School football team will be honoring police and firefighters October 6th, reminded everyone that Business on the Block activities will be October 27th at Cassidy Park, and encouraged all to attend the Farmers Market.
Additionally, the Council heard remarks from Reginald Laurent (candidate for 22nd JDC Division H judgeship), approved two resolutions, introduced five ordinances (to be discussed and voted on at the October 24th meeting), held a Public Hearing and approved one ordinance, heard reports from the police and fire departments, and heard comments and suggestions from residents during the public participation segment of the meeting.
