Addressing the Log Jam on the Pearl River

Source: La. Rep. Malinda Brumfield-White
South of Bogalusa on the Pearl River between Louisiana and Mississippi is BIG log jam. According to Louisiana State Representative (District 75) Malinda Brumfield-White, there are many reasons this log jam has grown to this level in a short period of time. Funding, access and bringing two states together to tackle the growing problem has been a monumental task but one worth pursuing to resolve safety hazards, drainage issues, river quality, navigable waters, and flooding backed up in Bogalusa. White went on to say that Louisiana and Mississippi authorities have expressed their willingness to work together to obtain funding to tackle the problem.
The 1st Annual Pearl River Clean Sweep has been scheduled for Saturday, September 23, 2017. For more information on the cleanup effort and to participate, click here.
