Washington Parish Government's Finance Director Donna Graham provided financial information to the Parish Council Monday (July 24, 2017) evening that reflects revenues and expenditures are consistent with the amounts budgeted (beginning at 13:55 into video of the meeting). The information provided is consistent with the audit report provided by Wilson LaGraize with the firm of Kushner and LaGraize at the June 26, 2017 meeting. LaGraize also commended Parish President Richard Thomas for his stewardship (see the WP Council meeting of June 26, 2017 on our Government Meetings page beginning at 5:35 into video of the meeting).
In other business Monday evening, the Council heard a report from Henry Harrison on the LSU Ag Center (beginning at 4:40 into video of the meeting), established the Ronda Sylvest Varnado Memorial Award and named Ronda Sylvest Varnado as the first recipient (beginning at 6:25 into video of the meeting), and heard reports from Parish President Richard Thomas and his staff. Finance Director Graham presented her report as described above (beginning at 13:55 into video of the meeting), Public Works Director Lucchesi described problems with mosquito abatement and a program involving the study and monitoring of mosquitos (beginning at 22:00 into video of the meeting), and Transportation Manager Merritt reported on work performed on the roads (beginning at 29:35 into video of the meeting).
