Slidell Police responded Wednesday (July 26, 2017) to a vehicle accident on Gause Blvd.
West (in front of the Grande Theater) in which a car struck and killed a deer.
One of the responding officers, who is an avid outdoorsman, thought outside of the box. In almost all cases involving a vehicle versus deer crash, the deer is disposed of, or left to decompose on the side of the road. The officer decided to pair up with a local church to see if they were interested in using the deer meat to feed the hungry. The church agreed. The deer will processed for ground meat and the food will then be given away to feed the hungry in the Slidell community.
