Franklinton Departments To Get New Phone System

In addition to taking care of routine matters, the Franklinton Board of Aldermen voted Tuesday (May 23, 2017) to approve Mayor Richard Dillon to sign a lease/purchase contract with NEC Financial for a new phone system for all of the Town's departments. The new system will make use of recently installed fiber optic cable rather than copper cable, will utilize the internet, and will be at substantial savings to the Town. Billing will reportedly be reduced from about $4800 monthly to about $400 monthly.
Additionally, the Board
  • Accepted the resignation of Angela McVea from the Planning and Zoning Commission and appointed Thomas Richardson to the Commission.
  • Heard an progress report on the sewer project from Jay Pittman with Spangler Engineering.
  • Heard Police Department, Fire Department, and Financial reports.
