Obituary

Julie Jefferson Harry
February 04, 1921 - April 23, 2017



On Sunday night, April 23, 2017, God called her home; thus, 96 years rolled into eternity.
Julie Jefferson Harry was born to the union of the late Mr. Thomas Harvey Jefferson, Sr., and the late Mrs. Effie Weary Jefferson in Angie, LA.
She was baptized at Wesley Ray United Methodist Church. She was a very active member in her church. She was a member of the Missionary Society and used her beautiful alto voice in the church choir. Additionally, she enjoyed working with the elderly in the church as well as in the community. She was educated in the public schools of Washington Parish. Julie was a graduate of the first class of Wesley Ray High School of Angie, LA. She graduated at the top of her class in 1941. Julie was a faithful employee at Washington Parish Health Unit for many years.
Julie was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Harry, Sr.; three sons, Milton D. Harry, Sr., Thomas Harvey Harry, Sr., Arnold L. Harry, Sr.; her parents, Thomas Harvey Jefferson, Sr., Effie Weary Jefferson and Zena Bickham Jefferson; five sisters, Lottie J. Marks, Willie Viola Pittman, Daisy Brown, Naomi Brown, Willie Mae Spikes; four brothers, Nevers L. Jefferson, Lucious Jefferson, Sr., Thomas Harvey Jefferson, Jr., Joseph Jefferson, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories; three sons, Willie A. (Elmira) Jefferson of New Orleans, LA, Otto Harry (Anne), Jr. of Tyler, TX, Anthony E. Harry of Angie, LA; one daughter, Dr. Zena M. Thompson of Waldorf, MD; six brothers, Marshall L. Jefferson, Sr., Freddie H. Jefferson, I, Marvin A. (Athrin) Jefferson, Sr., all of Angie, LA, Clarence J. (Clarissa) Jefferson of Jackson, MS, Cleveland (Myrtle) Jefferson of Baton Rouge, LA, Rev. Julius (Carol) Jefferson of Pikesville, MD; three additional daughters-in-law, Willie Deloris Harry of Bogalusa, LA, Margie Harry Pennington of Baton Rouge, LA, Vickie Harry of Angie, LA; three sisters-in-law, Alice Jefferson, Joannie Jefferson of Angie, LA, Aona Jefferson of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; four godchildren, Ryan Jefferson, Varerie Liddell, Demetria Rena Burton of Angie, LA and Patricia Harry Hines; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be from 9 am to 11 am on May 1, 2017 followed at 11 am by the Funeral Service  at Wesley Ray United Methodist Church in Angie, Louisiana.
