Melany Antoinette Smith Johnson

March 16, 1955 — April 21, 2026

Melany Antoinette Smith Johnson was the child of J.B. and Marie Edna DeRogers Smith born March 16, 1955, in Bogalusa, LA. She graduated from Bogalusa High School Class of 1973 in Bogalusa, LA.

Affectionately known as Melany, she accepted Christ at an early age as a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Bogalusa, LA. She served as a Lecter and Rosary Team Member, Throughout her life, Melany was a machine operator at Crown Zellerbach in Bogalusa, LA and a Veteran Wife.

Melany joined in union with the late Charles Edward Johnson and to that union were born 5 children: Eric D. Johnson, Aaron B. Johnson, Sonja R. Johnson, Celia Johnson, and Chad E. Williams. She has 10 grandchildren Erica Johnson, Aaron Blackwell, Jamarius Johnson, Jhaila Buckhanan, Ceniyah Sampson, Beyla Sampson, Alvin Crumedy, Chad Williams, Jr., Chance Williams, Jamir Mills.

Melany departed this life on April 21, 2026, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home Franklinton, LA. 

Waiting to greet her in eternal life are her parents, J.B. and Marie Edna Smith, and siblings Mary Jeanetta Smith (Eddie) Binns, Melba Jean (Gerald) Simmons, Junious Benjamin Smith, Jr., Phillip Louis, Margaret Elaine (Bill), Baby Girl Smith, Christopher Abbott Smith, and Brothers-in-Law Eddie Tolan Binns, Joseph Jacquet, Sister in Law Emma Jean Smith Aunts Harriet Ross (Lambert), Ellen (Harvey) Ball.

She will forever be remembered by her loving siblings Carolyn (Joseph) Jacquet, Lynda Noreen (Donald) Green, William Frederick Smith, Theresa (James) Ivory, Mamie Elizabeth (Randolph) Smith and Gwendolyn Annette (Willie) Perkins, reared Aunt Mary Ellen (George) Norwood, Aunt Theresa Dundy, Sister in Law Willie Jean Boyd, Frances Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and loved ones.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026 from 3:00PM - 5:00PM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home.

Mass of resurrection for Melany Antoinette Smith Johnson 10:00AM Visitation, Rosary followed by service at 11:00AM at Annunciation Catholic Church 517 Avenue B, Bogalusa, LA 70427 with Celebrant Fr. Angel Diaz Perez - Officiating. 

Crain and Sons Funeral Home - Bogalusa are in charge of arrangements.
