Wayne Patrick Weick

Wayne Patrick Weick, age 76 and a resident of Mount Hermon, passed away Saturday morning April 18, 2026 at his home. He was born in New Orleans on January 29, 1950 and obtained a bachelor’s degree from the Louisiana State University College of Engineering. Wayne worked for 35 years with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development as a civil engineer. During his dedicated career, he later would serve as an Assistant District Manager in Hammond and site manager in Baton Rouge, working on and overseeing construction projects throughout the state. After retiring from the state, Wayne worked for GEC for several years. He was also an enthusiastic cattleman and the owner of Why-Oh-Why Farm. Alongside his family, they raised Polled Hereford and later Black Hereford cattle. Wayne traveled across the country for livestock sales, shows, acquiring the best breeding stock and educational seminars. He always enjoyed working the farmland and pastures for his cows and bailing hay. The farm continues today, with the family carrying on his legacy of hard work and dedication to the cattle.
Survived by: Wife of 53 years: Jane Dirmann Weick; 2 Sons and Daughters in law: Christopher Wayne Weick and Heather Weick, Sean Patrick Weick and Christy Weick; Grandchildren: Sean Patrick Weick, II and fiancé Victoria Wilson, Bella Oakleigh Weick, Karter Payton Weick, Colt Christopher Weick, Josie Eva Whitehead; Great-granddaughter: Lucy May Weick; Sisters in law and Brothers in law: Annette Dirmann McCormick, Michael Joseph and Karen Dirmann, Jennifer Dirmann Davis and William Davis; Also numerous nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents Victor Weick and Jimmie Nell Alford Weick, brother Glenn Victor Weick, grandparents Otto and Selma Alford, aunt Joan “Punk” Alford, father in law and mother in law Joseph and Gerry Dirmann and other family members.
Visitation for family and friends will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton, LA) on Saturday April 25th from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations to Bogue Chitto Baptist Church (41088 Hwy. 438, Mt. Hermon, LA 70450).
