Golda Mae Talbert

January 5, 1926 - December 22, 2025

Golda Mae Talbert was born January 5, 1926, Baton Rouge, LA, and died December 22, 2025

As a young child she and her parents returned to East Feliciana Parish to live. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1944. Later, she returned to Baton Rouge to attend and graduate from Baton Rouge Business College. She was employed at Union National Life Insurance Company until she moved to Franklinton, Louisiana in 1963. In October 1963, she was employed at LSU AG Southeast Research Center in Franklinton. She retired in April 1990 and returned to East Feliciana Parish in Felixville to be close to relatives. She was active member of Clear Creek Community Church. While in Franklinton she petitioned Order of Eastern Star, Noble Queen Chapter No. 45 for membership. She was initiated into the Order February 14, 1967, elected Worthy Matron in 1975, 1976 and again in 1992. Also appointed District Deputy Grand Matron in 1976 and in 1984. She was appointed Grand Ruth of the Grand Chapter of the State of Louisiana, In 1987, she was appointed Grand Representative to the Grand Chapter of Pennsylvania. In 1997, she was appointed Grand Representative to the Grand Chapter of Maryland. After many dedicated years she received her 50 year OES pen in 2017. 

Survived by cousins, Nancy Hanks-Myers, Hope Hanks, Amanda Smith Hayden, Murry N. Smith, Felicia Smith Garig and many other relatives in the area. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hardy J. Talbert and Leila Mae Covington Talbert. Pallbearers will be Bo Garig, Jonas Garig, Bo James Garig, Wendell Thomas, Michael Hayden, and Devin Hayden. 

There was a visitation on Monday, December 29, 2025 at the Clear Creek Methodist Church in Clinton, LA from 10:00am until funeral services at 12:00 noon. Burial was at Masonic Cemetery in Clinton. Honorary pallbearers were Murry N. Smith, Brian Lea Hurst, and Chris Hurst. 

The family would like to thank the staff of the Lodge at Lane, S&S Sitter Services, and Hospice of Baton Rouge for their excellent care and support. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Clear Creek Community Church or your preferred charity.
