Marye Walker Dykes

December 22, 1945 - August 16, 2025

Marye Walker Dykes, age 79 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away late Saturday night August 16, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a longtime active member of First United Pentecostal Church of Franklinton, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Marye organized the Women’s Prayer Meeting each week and helped provide food for church gatherings, her specialty being the delicious dressing. She truly loved the Lord, her church and church family. Marye was well-known as the manager of Dad’s Donuts in Franklinton for many years and also worked at Ward’s and other restaurants before that. She loved taking care of the flowers in her yard and enjoyed sewing items for her family and friends. Marye was always a caregiver to those in need and sat with several people during illness or the tough times of their lives. She will be sadly missed by her family and church family.

Survived by: Daughter: Deborah Norris Cutrer of Franklinton; 2 Sons and Daughters in law: Randy and Kristy Dykes, Randell and Cathy Dykes all of Franklinton; Grandchildren and Spouses: Daniel Lea, Megan Leigh Dykes, Samantha Rene’ Newman and Jared Newman, Mackayla Bell Dykes, Timothy Dykes and Anthony Basco, Jacy Dykes; Great-grandchildren: Blayton Lea, Hayden Martin, Kyler Martin, Anniston Newman, Alec Newman, Creed Newman; Sister: Betty Lou Holliday; Brother: Wayne Walker; Also numerous nieces, nephews and their families

She was preceded in death by her husband Talmadge Laverne Dykes, her parents Vernon Ray Walker and Ora Johnson Walker, sister Bonnie Sue Bennett, father in law and mother in law Joseph and Vida Dykes and numerous sisters in law and brothers in law.

Visitation will be at First United Pentecostal Church (1214 17th Ave., Franklinton, LA 70438) on Tuesday August 19th from 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm and after 9:00 am on Wednesday. A funeral service will be held in the church at 11:00 am Wednesday with Rev. John Mark Franklin officiating. Burial will follow in the Nobles Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations to First UPC of Franklinton at the address above.
