Wendell Ray Fornea
August 28, 1945 - August 10, 2025
It is with a heavy heart that we share the peaceful passing of Wendell Ray Fornea on August 10th at the age of 79.
Wendell was born on August 28th, 1945 in Bogalusa to his proud parents Jack and Blanche Breland Fornea. After graduating from Varnado High School in 1963, Wendell honorably served in the United States Army in Germany during the Vietnam era.
Upon returning to Washington Parish, Wendell built a career in finance, working with various local banks and financial companies. Recognizing a significant need for mental healthcare assistance in the surrounding areas, he acquired Therapeutic Counseling, Inc., in 1999 and continued to serve as its CEO.
Wendell is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 35 years, Beth Knight Fornea, and his children: three sons, Brian Fornea (Alison) of Knoxville, TN; Chris Fornea (Andie) of Sumrall, MS; Joey Mizell of Amite, LA; and one daughter, Julie Pittman (Tommy) of Bogalusa, LA.
Wendell was cherished as a wonderful friend and golfer, but his most beloved title was “Do-Dad” to his seven grandchildren: Destin (Jessie) Pittman of Bogalusa, LA; Daniel (Allison) Pittman of Pine, LA; Allie Fornea and Evan Fornea of Knoxville, TN; Rowan Fornea and Luke Fornea of Sumrall, MS; and Addison Mizell of Amite, LA. He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren: Landry Ann and Lyndley Beth Pittman, and Thomas Walker Pittman.
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Blanche Fornea, his sister, Jackie Fornea Brignac, and his brother, Mickey Fornea.
A small graveside service will be held for immediate family on Thursday, August 14th, with Brother Tommy Pittman presiding.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Wendell’s honor to Pettitt Memorial Baptist Church, 1033 Avenue G, Bogalusa, LA 70427.
Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home & Crematory in Bogalusa, Louisiana is in charge of arrangements.
