The Washington Parish Animal Shelter, in collaboration with the Washington Humane Society and BISSELL Pet Foundation, will be in Franklinton from August 18–22 to assist with the ongoing cat overpopulation crisis.
There is a large number of free-roaming cats concentrated in several areas, including:
- 🐾 Winn-Dixie parking lot
- 🐾 Main’s Market parking lot
- 🐾 Franklinton Library
- 🐾 Franklinton Junior High
To ensure the success of this effort, we are asking residents and business owners in these areas NOT to feed the cats during this time. Cats will be humanely trapped, then spayed or neutered, fed, and receive medical care during their clinic date, and returned to help manage the population responsibly.
Your cooperation is essential to making this initiative successful and improving the wellbeing of our community's animals.
