Pike County MS Traffic Stop Leads to Vehicle Pursuit & Arrest - Stolen Firearms & Drugs Found

The Pike County Sheriff’s Office reported today (July 31, 2025) that the PCSO's Patrol Division, along with the Gang Unit, attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a red passenger car at the intersection of Bala Chitto Rd and Pike 93 Central. The vehicle fled from deputies onto Highway 48, prompting a pursuit.

During the chase, the suspect vehicle lost control and crashed into a Mississippi Department of Transportation work truck before careening into a wooded area. The driver, identified as Mr. Jamarion Pounds from Magnolia, was taken into custody and is currently facing pending felony charges.

Upon further investigation, deputies discovered stolen firearms and controlled substances inside the vehicle. 

Sheriff Jones stated, "We are committed to doing everything we can to protect the citizens of Pike County. We aggressively investigate gun and gang issues within our county and are serious about apprehending those offenders."
