Mrs. Claudell Talley
June 14, 1924 - May 21, 2025
With immense love and gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Claudell Talley, who left this world peacefully at the age of 100, carried by the angels to the golden shores of Heaven on May 21, 2025. A cherished daughter of God, Claudell was a devoted follower of her faith and found joy in her relationship with Christ.
As a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Sun, she lived her life grounded in compassion and service. Her 50-year career as a registered nurse exemplified her selflessness, spending 48 years at Stanicola Medical and 2 years at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, where she touched countless lives with her kindness and unwavering dedication.
Raised in humble beginnings in Mount Hermon, Claudell was one of nine children born to Edgar and Alie Simmons, who instilled in her the virtues of hard work and perseverance. After marrying Hurshall Whit Talley, they built a beautiful life together in Baton Rouge, where she lovingly raised three children, imparting the values of respect and integrity that they carry to this day.
In addition to her nursing career, Claudell had a passion for painting, gardening, reading, and shopping, often finding inspiration and joy in the beauty of everyday life.
Claudell is survived by her two sons, Hurshall “Michael” Talley (Deborah) and Larry Eugene Talley (Amy), and her beloved daughter, Lyndall “Linda Sue” Talley O’Brien (Michael). She also leaves behind nine adoring grandchildren—Amanda, Jeremy, Matthew, Lori, Kristy, Seth, Dawn, Katherine, and Michael—and sixteen great-grandchildren who will carry her spirit forward. Additionally, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Della Ruth Simmons.
She has been reunited in heaven with her husband of 65 years, Hurshall Whit Talley, as well as her parents and siblings—A.W., Willard, Jack, Ferrell, Evelyn, Kathleen, Geraldine, and Frances—who all preceded her in death.
In gratitude for the exceptional care provided to Mrs. Talley, the family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Foundations Hospice, Azalea's Estate of Slidell, and the staff at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home.
Funeral services will take place at the First Baptist Church of Sun on June 3, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10 AM, followed by a celebration of Claudell's life at 12 PM, officiated by Bro. Stanley Salassi. Interment will immediately follow in the church’s cemetery, where we will lay her to rest with love and honor.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Sun.
As we gather to celebrate her remarkable century of life, we invite all who knew and loved Claudell to join us in reflecting on the profound impact she made in our lives and the lives of so many.
