The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office reports that when a juvenile with autism went missing from the Abita Springs area and precious time was ticking, K9 Draco and his handler, Deputy Walter Eason, answered the call.
The pair quickly established a possible search radius, and within just 15 minutes of tracking, K9 Draco led deputies to the juvenile, who was found lying on the side of Highway 36, miles from his home and unharmed.
This could have ended very differently. But thanks to the swift work of Deputy Eason and the incredible nose and instincts of K9 Draco, a family was reunited.
The report added,
- 🔹To the family…we are so thankful this ended with a hug instead of heartbreak.
- 🔹To our team…thank you for doing what you do.
- 🔹To K9 Draco…you are, without question, a very good boy. 🐾
This is why we do what we do. This is why we serve.
