Bonnie Swenson Cooper

April 18, 1947 - April 28, 2025

Bonnie Swenson Cooper, age 78 and of Bush, LA and Sun, LA, passed away peacefully at her home on April 28, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on April 18, 1947, Bonnie was a cherished member of her community, a devoted mother, and a talented draftsman whose career spanned over four decades.

A proud graduate of Covington High School and a passionate learner, Bonnie honed her skills at Northshore Technical College, where she completed her training as a draftsman. Throughout her career, she worked diligently for various surveying companies, including JV Burkes, John Berlin, Ned Wilson, and Koester Engineering Consultants. Her commitment to her craft and unwavering work ethic earned her the respect of colleagues and clients alike.

In her retirement, Bonnie pursued her passions for gardening and sewing, finding joy in the artistry of both. She had a vibrant spirit, often brightening the lives of those around her with her creativity and kind heart.

Bonnie is survived by her loving son, Toby Cooper and his wife, Tina Pierce Cooper; her beloved daughter, Gretchen Cowart and her husband, Brian; and her ten adoring grandchildren: Megan, Kaleigh, Victoria, Courtney, Kaya, Andrew, Erynne, Evangeline, Levi, and Sadoc. She is also survived by her dear brother, Jerry Swenson, and a host of family and friends who will miss her warmth and laughter.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Ira Daunette Cooper; her parents, Jerome and Flora Swenson; and her beloved sister-in-law, Heather Swenson.

The family wishes to honor Bonnie’s life and legacy in a graveside service that will take place on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 10 AM at the First Baptist Church of Sun Cemetery. Bro. Stan Salassi will officiate the ceremony, celebrating Bonnie’s life and the love she shared with those she held dear.

Final arrangements have been entrusted to Brown-McGehee Funeral Home. In this time of sorrow, the family invites all who knew and loved Bonnie to come together in remembrance and to share in the comfort of community. She will forever be remembered for her love, talent, and the indelible mark she left on all who knew her.

Friends and family are invited back to Mr. Toby and Mrs. Tina's house for lunch after the graveside service.
