Doris Lee Corkern

August 1, 1936 - October 30, 2024

Doris Lee Corkern, age 88 and a resident of Franklinton, went Home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday evening October 30, 2024. She was an active 70 year member of First United Pentecostal Church of Franklinton, where she greatly enjoyed being a “greeter” for church services. Through the years she served the church as a Sunday School teacher as well as working with youth activities like Christmas plays and other events. Doris was retired after working many years at the cafeteria of Franklinton High School and earlier in life working as a seamstress for Rutter Rex. After retiring, she cleaned houses and ironed clothes for neighbors and friends that needed the help, knowing she would do a perfect job. Doris liked to work in her yard and flower beds and was even recognized as Garden of the Month on multiple occasions. She was forever a loving wife, mother and grandmother that cherished the time spent with her family.

Survived by: Son and Daughter in law: Jerry and Roma Corkern of Carthage, MS; Daughter and Son in law: Shelia and Wade Carney of Foxworth, MS; Grandchildren and Spouses: Melissa and Darwin Kellum, Ramona and Zac Sandlin, Amanda and Jonathan Wilson, Rebecca and Zack Kile, Brandon and Candace Carney, Scott and Jessica Carney; Great-grandchildren: Tyler Kellum, Lana Kellum, Emily Sandlin, Drew Sandlin, Addison Wilson, Anna Kate Wilson, Dailyn Kile, Myla Kile, Jackson Walker, Gunner Carney, Sammie Lane Carney, Ashlynn Carney, Payton Matlock, Porter Carney, Parker Carney, Presley Carney

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Taylor W. Corkern, parents James L. Sullivan and Marie Tuggle Sullivan, sisters Dorothy Hubbard, Juanita Rogers, brother Charles Sullivan and other family members.

Visitation will be at First Pentecostal Church of Franklinton (1214 17th Ave., Franklinton) on Friday November 1st from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and after 8:00 am on Saturday. A funeral service will be held in the church at 10:30 am Saturday with Rev. John Mark Franklin, Rev. Patrick Miller and Rev. Joe Burgess officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
