Rick Wood
February 17, 1953 - April 2, 2017



RICHARD ALAN “RICK” WOOD, AGE 64 and a resident of Madisonville died Sunday afternoon April 2, 2017 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He was a native of Washington Parish and a 1971 graduate of Franklinton High School where he played in the marching band. Rick then graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University before also graduating from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He worked for many years as the Chief Civil Deputy for the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office and later as an investigator and the public information officer for the Washington-St. Tammany District Attorney’s office before retiring. Rick enjoyed playing tennis and golf and liked to travel. He always cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and family.
Survived by: Wife: Vicki McKenzie Wood of Madisonville; 3 Daughters and Sons in law: Emily and Steve Kudirka of Madisonville, Joanna and Justin Bowles of Ponchatoula, Haylee Thomas of Pine; 4 Grandchildren: Lyla Kudirka, Austin Kudirka, Kamryn Bowles, Laken Moore; Brother and Sister in law: Bill and Cheryl Wood of Collierville, TN; 2 Sisters and a Brother in law: Susan Thomas of Franklinton, Jodie and Jimmy Foster of Sugar Land, TX; Mother in law: Jimmie Lou McKenzie of Pine; Brother in law and Sister in law: Ronald and Joyce McKenzie of Pine; Also numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents William A. Wood, Sr. and Lorelle McClain Wood and brother in law Glen Thomas.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton) Wednesday April 5th from 9 am until 1 pm. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Marc Gregoire, Wayne Miller and Robbie Stuart officiating. Burial will folloa in Eliis Cemetery. Following the service, a reception celebrating Rick’s life will be held for friends and family at his home in Madisonville.
