Causeway Police Officer Arrested for Theft and Malfeasance

An investigation requested by Causeway Police Chief Nick Congemi into missing evidence has resulted in an arrest today (February 1, 2017) of Causeway Police Sergeant William Jones Jr.(44) by members of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Public Corruption Unit, for one count of felony theft and malfeasance.
When $6,300 and narcotics were discovered missing from the evidence room of the Causeway Police Department, Chief Congemi asked Sheriff Randy Smith to investigate.  The investigation led investigators to the evidence officer, Sergeant William Jones Jr., who ultimately confessed to the theft.
