On July 4, 2025, at approximately 11:53 AM, Washington Parish Sheriff's Office Deputies were dispatched to White Sands Lake Beach, south of Franklinton, after a call came in to report a drowning. When they arrived, they found 16-year-old Dyquell Deadre Gross unresponsive at the scene. After attempting to resuscitate, he was transported to Riverside Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The WPSO expresses their deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Gross as they deal with the tragic death of their loved one.
