Richard Leo Kennedy
November 17, 1935 - July 21, 2020



Richard Leo Kennedy, age 84 and a resident of Franklinton, died Tuesday afternoon July 21, 2020 at his home. He was retired after a 25 year career at the Crown Zellerbach paper mill in Bogalusa. Leo was a longtime, faithful member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church and a former member of Forest Haven Missionary Baptist Church. Leo enjoyed listening to music and also playing his guitar and singing. He was an avid baseball fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and football fan of the New Orleans Saints. Leo had a great sense of humor and dry wit, always responding with the perfect playful comment. He loved spending time with his family and making the young children laugh.

Survived by: Wife of 64 years: Ola Faye McNeese Kennedy of Franklinton; Son: Tony Kennedy of Gulfport, MS; 2 Daughters and Sons in law: Sherry and Dennis Seal of Franklinton, Tara and Chris Burge of Sumrall, MS; 4 Grandchildren and Spouses: Derek and Summer Seal, Brandon and Aerial Knight, Brittany Kennedy, Noah Burge; 6 Great-grandchildren: Desirae Rosemann, Wyatt Seal, Audrey Ross, Payton Knight, Hazel Knight, Gavin Knight; Brother and Sister in law: Joe and Lucille Kennedy; Also numerous nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents Haverd Kennedy and Viola McKenzie Kennedy, sister Elouise Stogner, sister in law Kathryn Kennedy.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Thursday July 23rd from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Thursday with Eld. Tommy Hudnell, Eld. Brent King and Eld. Duane Ball officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery.
