Merle Jean Hoggatt Stringfield
August 23, 1932 - July 26, 2020


Merle Jean Hoggatt Stringfield, age 87 and a longtime resident of Franklinton, passed away Sunday night July 26, 2020. Born on August 23, 1932 to the late Garland Hoggatt and Emma Passman Hoggatt Corkern, she was an active member of the A.W. Robbins Sunday School class, Senior Adult Choir, and Merry Hearts at First Baptist Church of Franklinton. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

She is survived by three children and spouses: Cheryl (Bill) Wood of Collierville, TN, Robert (Josette) Stringfield of Franklinton, and Angela (Dr.Chip) McVea of Franklinton; Grandchildren and spouses: Kelly (Tim) Woodard of Collierville,TN, Andrew (Abby) Wood of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Jim (Megan) Stringfield of Sulphur, LA, Chelsea Stringfield, Jacob McVea of Franklinton, and Dr. Seth (Dr. Mary) McVea of New Orleans, LA.; Great-grandchildren: Sarah, Drew, Jacob, and Matthew Woodard, Luke Wood, and Alice Stringfield; Also survived by her brother Fred Hoggatt, niece Linda Day, and nephews and spouses Barry (Cathy) Stringfield, Brent (Lisa) Hoggatt.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Vick Adrian Stringfield, her brother and sister in law Ashley and Frankie Stringfield and sister in law Josie Hoggatt.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday July 28th in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of Good Samaritan Living Center for their years of kind and loving care.
