Harold Varnado, Jr.
March 5, 1952 - February 29, 2020



Harold Varnado, Jr., age 67 and a resident of Franklinton, died Saturday night February 29, 2020 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center. He was a 1970 graduate of Franklinton High School, where he was a member of the Demon football and baseball teams. Harold worked in law enforcement in Washington Parish for over 30 years. He worked for both the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Franklinton Police Department. He was once the Chief of Detectives with the WPSO before later retiring as a FPD school resource officer for the Franklinton schools. Harold was an avid sports fan, but especially his favorite baseball. He also coached Little League Baseball in Franklinton for many years. Harold enjoyed playing the guitar.

Survived by: 4 Sons and Daughters in law: Stuart Mitchell and Marie Varnado, Kyle Matthew and Leslie Varnado, Jacob Alan Varnado, Jared Evan Varnado all of Franklinton; 6 Grandchildren and a Spouse: Kristina Varnado Seal and Bradley Seal, Christopher Varnado and fiancé Mallory Knight, Dylan Varnado, Mason Varnado, Madysen Varnado, Morgan Varnado; Great-grandson: Miles Seal; 2 Brothers and Sisters in law: Michael L. and Debbie Varnado of Franklinton, Ruston C. and Shelly Varnado of Folsom; Sister: Tonja Varnado-Seal of Franklinton; Cousin: Todd E. Magee; Father in law and Mother in law: Lawrence and Nell Sylvest of Franklinton; Brothers in law and Sisters in law: Larry and Debbie Sylvest, Kathy Sylvest, Devoy Hill all of Franklinton; Also numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ronda Sylvest Varnado, father Harold Varnado, Sr., mother Peggy Chiles Varnado, brother Alan Monroe Varnado, sister Tammy Varnado Ingram, brother in law Kevin Seal, sister in law Jeri Sylvest Hill and aunt Kakie Sumrall.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Friday March 6th from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 pm Friday with Bro. Cody Thomas officiating with a eulogy from the Franklinton Police Department. Harold will be laid to rest alongside his family in a private ceremony at a later date.

Honorary Pallbearers are his co-workers and friends at the Franklinton Police Department.
