On Friday, January 3, 2020, the death angel came and bored the spirit of our beloved Mother, and Grandmother. She was born December 23, 1925 in Mt. Hermon, La. She joined the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Dr. James Robert Vernon. Mrs. Marie’s favorite daily Quote was: “God Grant Me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”
She was a faithful and devoted worker in the church until her health failed. She served on the usher board, mission and kitchen committee. Mrs. Marie was also the mother of the church.
Mrs. Marie had a talent in cooking. She worked as a cafeteria worker at Vernon High School for ten years and seventeen at Mt. Hermon High School where she retired.
On December 21,1947, she was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, James. To this union eight children were born.
She leaves to cherish her memories three sons, Larry (Gayle) Brumfield of Atlanta, GA, Jimmy Ray Brumfield of Mt. Hermon, LA, Frankie (Martha) Brumfield of Younkers, NY; three daughters, Wonder Anderson, Faye Magee, and Diane French of Mt. Hermon, LA.; sixteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, church family, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son, infant daughter, parents, sisters and brothers, and son in law.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 9:00AM – 11:00AM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home – Franklinton. Funeral service to follow at 11:00AM. Rev. Johnnie Causey – Pastor Officiating. Interment at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
