Motorist Arrested for Pointing Firearm in Tangipahoa Parish

Wednesday afternoon (July 5, 2019), Troopers arrested Saadiq Ellis (22) from Denham Springs for a
road rage incident which occurred in Tangipahoa Parish on I-12 in Hammond shortly after 5:00 pm.

Ellis reportedly was driving recklessly and a motorist behind him pulled alongside Ellis' vehicle. The motorist contacted State Police for assistance after Ellis reportedly held a pistol in the air and pointed it at him. Troopers were able to stop Ellis on I-10 at Williams Blvd. in Kenner, where Ellis was taken into custody.

Troopers determined that Ellis (a convicted felon) was in possession of two firearms, including the one he pointed at the motorist. Ellis was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center for Aggravated assault with a firearm, Reckless operation, Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and Suspended driver’s license.
