Washington Parish Council Hears Reports and Takes Actions

Washington Parish Road Supervisor Donnell Merritt provided his monthly report at the Parish Council meeting Monday, May 6, 2019. The report reflects a tremendous amount of work for the residents of Washington Parish.


The Council also
  • heard a very positive report from Finance Director Donna Graham (beginning 53:35 into video of the meeting),
  • heard a report from Public Works Director Ken Wheat on projects in the parish (beginning 58:30 into video of the meeting),
  • heard a presentation by Qiana Wiggins, Partnership Specialist for the United States Census Bureau (See separate story),
  • adopted an ordinance related to measuring the length of roads, 
  • adopted a resolution to seek bids for the construction of new cell at the Choctaw Landfill, 
  • introduced an ordinance calling a special election to amend and restate the Home Rule Charter, 
  • introduced an ordinance adjusting commercial customer fees of the Choctaw Road Landfill, and 
  • approved appointments to various commissions.
