Rosalie Carmel Rera Grasso of Franklinton, LA passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2019. She was born on November 26, 1928 in The Bronx to Anthony and Maria (Messina) Rera.
Rosalie is survived by her daughters Anna Grasso Windom (Paul), Patricia Grasso Janes, and Theresa Grasso Glissman (Michael); her son Kevin McIntyre (Debbie); her grandchildren Brian Geraghty, Jason Dally, Keri Burke, William Secrist, Melissa Secrist, Michael Glissman, Jr., Justin Glissman, Cody Jambois, Moe McIntyre, and Christopher McIntyre; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Anthony Rera (Lydia), her sister-in-law Josephine Santoro, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosalie is preceded in death by her beloved husband Anthony C. Grasso; her son Peter White; her grandson Matthew McIntyre; her sisters Grace Gallo and Connie Reyes; her brother Joseph Rera; her son-in-law Wilmer Secrist; and her parents.
Rosalie was born and raised in The Bronx and moved to Louisiana in 2004. She married Anthony Grasso in May of 1957, and they were married for 50 years before his death. Together, they raised three daughters who grew to be strong, independent women. Rosalie will be fondly remembered for her love of cooking, but especially for her large meatballs and stuffed lentils.
A private memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2019. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.
