Jimmie Marshall Stokes, Sr.
September 8, 1944 - May 28, 2019



Jimmie Marshall Stokes, Sr. passed away on Tuesday May 28, 2019, at his home in Franklinton, LA. at the age of 74. Jimmie was a native of Independence, LA., and a long time resident of Franklinton, LA. He was a member of the Christian Non-Denominational Church in Bogalusa, LA. He was a member of the Merchant Marines where he served three years. He proudly served two tours in the United States Navy in Vietnam. Jimmie also served six years in the United States Navy Reserves. He served three years as Post Commander of Disabled American Veterans.

Jimmie is survived by his wife Elizabeth Pratt Stokes of Franklinton, LA. One son Jimmie Marshall Stokes, Jr., of Franklinton, LA. One daughter Kimberly Ann Stokes Dickens of Tylertown, MS. Two brothers Douglas Baker of Pensacola, FL. & Edgar Baker of Independence, LA. One sister Bonnie Correnti. Five Grandchildren Heather Elizabeth Smith & her husband Cory, Kevin Bennett and his wife Rachel, Jimmie M. Stokes III, Kayla Bennett & Joshua Stokes. Six Great- Grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents Otis Stokes and Hazel Golmon Shelby. Two brothers James Stokes and Martin Stokes. One sister and a daughter-in-law- Sonia Hodges Cooper.

Services will be at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home in Bogalusa, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 6 pm to 10 pm on June 1, 2019. The Funeral Service will be from 12 pm to 2 pm on June 2, 2019. Interment will be at Sheridan Cemetery, Franklinton, Louisiana.
