Obituary

Shelia Ramona Hogan Pittman
March 01, 1961 - May 04, 2019

Shelia Ramona Hogan-Pittman departed this life on May 4, 2019. She was born March 1, 1961 to the late David Lee Hogan and Betty Tillman-Hogan in Bogalusa, Louisiana. Shelia is the third of nine children, seven girls and two boys.  She attended and graduated from Bogalusa High School.  She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and attended Second Missionary Baptist Church.  She grew up in Second Missionary Baptist Church where she attended Sunday school, sang in choir, and worked with the children in vacation bible school.  Sheila rededicated her life to the Lord and was a faithful servant.

She was united in marriage to the late Tillmer Pittman and together they raised four children: Duane Hogan, Brian Hogan, Na’tarshish “Mekia” Hogan, and Tillman “Ham” Pittman.

She truly enjoyed styling hair and passed her passion on to her nieces.  She was also known for her great cooking, especially her gumbo.  She worked in the food service industry, working for several restaurants in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas.  She was an awesome chef.

She was known for her kindness, her beautiful smile, and her sweet personality. If you knew Shelia, you would remember a person full of love and compassion for others.  She was truly loved by her family and friends.

Shelia helped many young adults who didn’t have a place to stay.  You would walk in her home and see different faces and she would look at you and say, “They didn’t have a place to stay”. They would stay until they were back on their feet.  She would always say, “You will never know when you might need help”. This was how she lived her life, caring for others. If she had it, you had it.  The description of Shelia’s heart is something that cannot be put into words. You might say, it was filled with warmth and love for everyone.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tillmer Pittman and father, David Lee Hogan.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, four devoted and loving children: Duane Hogan of Bogalusa LA, Brian Hogan of Bogalusa LA, Na’tarshish “Mekia” Hogan of West Memphis AR, and Tillman “Ham’ Pittman of Bogalusa, LA; two young men that she claimed as her own sons, Clarence Robinson and Marcus Myrick Sr., both of Bogalusa, LA,; a special great niece, Jaylene Morris.  Grandchildren: Ashaunti Weary, Duane “DJ” Hogan, Travon Nelson, and Tanaya Nelson.   Mother: Mrs. Betty Tillman-Hogan of Bogalusa, LA,; Siblings: 2 brothers - Ronald Hogan of Las Vegas NV and Chris Hogan of Bogalusa LA,; 6 sisters -  Erica Hogan of Bogalusa LA, D’Juna Louise (Argell) Smith of Beltsville MD, Carol (Arthur) Mixon of Bogalusa LA, Dionne Hogan of College Station TX, Jennifer Hogan of Bryan TX, and Tevonia (Toni) Hogan-Muse of Bryan TX and a host of family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, Louisiana.
