Manhunt Continues for Carjacking Suspect

A carjacking in Baton Rouge led to an alert being broadcast for the car. A police officer in
Independence spotted the car and gave chase. Due to traffic and safety conditions, the officer had to abandon the chase. Later, a Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s deputy spotted the car entering Washington Parish and notified Washingon Parish Sheriff's Office. Two WPSO patrol deputies then chased the car through parts of western Washington Parish, back into Tangipahoa, into Pike County and then back to Tangipahoa. Once back in Tangipahoa, the driver of the vehicle abandoned the vehicle and fled.

A manhunt ensued and continued until approximately 10:00 p.m. last night (May 7, 2019). The suspect is still at large, presumably somewhere in Tangipahoa Parish unless he was able to contact someone and arrange to be picked up and transported out of the area.

Unverified reports are that the subject is armed and is from the Kentwood/Mt. Hermon area.

More information will be provided when it becomes available.
